I am a nonfiction writer of neuroscience based mental health guides. I write to translate the complexity of the brain for you in order to promote mindful and compassionate self-care. All my books are centered in the concept of Mindfulness. Mindfulness is a proven self-driven therapy that changes the structure of the brain to promote healing and growth. I am spreading the message of hope with the books I write. We all need to know and accept that mental health matters. We need to practice empathy, understanding and compassion so we can all do our part to help end the dangerous stigma that put harmful labels on people that dismiss and demean them, their struggle and their pain. These ignorant words and actions hurt people and can lead to them hurting themselves. We need to spread awareness to stop the stigma. Everyone is at risk at some point in their lives of developing a mental health issue or experiencing a crisis or trauma. It is in the best interest of humanity that we keep working to erase this stigma and spread this message. This focus area is my life’s work and I will continue to use my voice to impact change.

I write on other topics too - creativity and beautiful words. I also dabble in poetry.

​ The only time we think about our feelings and emotions are when we are actively engaging with them. Like when you explode in anger, break down in tears, burst with joy, or die from embarrassment. And we don’t analyze these feelings for what they are. We don’t try to find meaning. When we feel bad, we judge and criticize ourselves, our actions, thoughts or behaviors. When we feel good, we can easily second guess ourselves, think we are undeserving or expect something to ruin it. When we feel indifferent, we can feel confused. We think, is there something wrong with me that I don’t care? And finally, when we lose control we can feel like we are riding the crazy train. But you know what? Everybody rides that train with you. Why? Because that is what our brains do. Your feelings and emotions matter. They mean something to you. They affect your life. They are a part of you. It’s normal. The secret is to own them and not let them own you. We do this with mindful self-care. Before we dig into what that even means, let’s hack the brain and understand what feelings and emotions are, where they come from and why they make you crazy.
