What it is About:
We don’t necessarily think of stress we encounter from online fighting, negativity and bullying as being impactful to our mental health. Generally when we use the word trauma you think of PTSD from war or violence or abuse. But trauma sits on a spectrum and there are different levels. Online attacks and negativity causes trauma too. While you read this booklet keep that in mind when encountering the word trauma. Any event, action or behavior that negatively affects the structure of the brain or changes stress hormone levels or adversely affects neurochemical levels is trauma. If trauma is caused by the negativity and hate you witness or engage in on Twitter then your social media activity has changed your brain negatively and that contributes to a host of mental health disorders. So effectively Twitter can make you depressed.
